- Turned Krokbragd Style Sheep
During our testing, Jenn Hendrix was curious if she could convert Turned Krokbragd patterns over to tablet weaving using Triangle Tablets. She was able to make it work and is playing with more Krokbragd designs to weave up on her Penelope. For those who would like to weave these adorable little sheep, here is a pattern draft. It uses 20 Triangle Tablets and four colors of yarn. The yarn used in the above photo is 8/2 unmercerized cotton and Jenn's sample below is 8/4 cotton. Turned Krokbragd Sheep woven with Triangle Tablets (3 hole) in 8/4 cotton by Jenn Hendrix Tablets - 20 Triangle Tablets Colors - Green, Sky Blue, White, and Black Warp Threads - 12 Green, 26 Sky Blue, 13 White, and 9 Black Card Alignment - All cards should be in the same slant Twist - This is a Twist Neutral Pattern Threading Chart - Weaving Instructions - All tablets are turned together. You will start with A pointed upwards then rotate the cards as followed, B, C, B, A, B, C, B. An alternative way to notate this is as followed. Starting at A position pointing up rotate Forward Twice (B, C), then rotate Backward Twice (B, A), then Forward Twice (B, C). Each rotation is one pass of the weft. Tips: a helpful way to remember this pattern is that A is the sky, B is the legs of the sheep, and C is the head of the sheep. Whatever part of the pattern you want to display that letter will need to be pointed upwards. If anyone has any questions please feel free to leave a comment on the blog. Note the small bell dot (visible weft) under the faces of the white sheep. This was due to having the left half tablets and the right half tablets slanting in opposition. The black sheep tablets were all set up with the same alignment which prevents the weft dot that was seen in the white sheep. Happy Weaving! Evanita
- Penelope Update and Release Date
When will Penelope be released We want to thank everyone for bearing with us as we prepare to release our first loom, the Penelope Band Loom. We will officially be releasing Penelope at SSK, the Knit Girllls’ Super Summer Knitogther Retreat Market on July 19th, 2025 . Upon our return from SSK , we will have a shop update (July 26th, 2025, 4 PM EDT) to release the Penelope online to the general public. Q&A We’ve had a few questions that haven’t been addressed so far. The one that has come up the most frequently has to deal with twist management when working with tablet weaving patterns that accrue a lot of twist. For patterns that are not twist neutral, you can bypass the warp beam and have your warp secured via the back clamp instead. By doing this, you can alleviate twist for the cards that need it while you work. Can you say what the weaving distance is between the front clamp and the back beam? The distance between the Back Beam (Carbon Fiber Tube) and the Front Clamp is 12 inches. Shipping Cost? When purchasing a Penelope through the online shop you will be provided upon check out a variety of shipping methods with varying costs. Do you ship internationally? - The Wheel weaves what it will
The Wheel weaves as the Wheel wills (Wheel of Time), and as the pattern changes, so must we. With that in mind, we at Daedalus have been busy developing a new product. So without further ado, we are proud to introduce you to Penelope, a robust band loom made from a beautiful blend of Wood, 3d Printing, and Carbon Fiber! Images are renders Penelope is perfect for weaving thin scarves, belts, shoe laces, camera/purse/guitar straps, and mug rugs (coasters). We tried to design Penelope to be as versatile as possible. For instance, it has both a ratcheting warp beam as well as a rear clamp. The warp beam can hold around 5 yards of warp and separator, but using the rear clamp instead will allow an infinite length of warp draped off the back. So far, we’ve enjoyed testing it using tablets as well as a laser-cut wooden heddle (or two)! It can be firmly planted on a table because of its generously sized rubber feet, but it is still just the right size when it needs to be in your lap. And just like our line of spinning wheels, Penelope was designed to operate with the same smooth precision, as well as having the reliability to last a lifetime. Laser engraving the Daedalus Wings onto the base. Daedalus Wings Curious about the name? We’ve named her for Odysseus’ wife, Penelope. She wove daily and then nightly unwove her work to delay suitors from pressing her into marriage while Odysseus was on his Odyssey. That's true love, and a witty woman, two things we love over here. Price point still to be determined, but likely will be between $100-200, depending on optional accessories. Product Specifications Maximum Weaving Width: 5.5” (13.7cm) Dimensions: 16”L x 7.5”W x 7”H (40cm L x 19cm W x 18cm H) Weight: 3.5lbs (1.6kg) Click Here To Learn More -Team Daedalus

Howard E. Finke J. Small D. LaMonte D. Drager T. Chona M. Sundquist L. Rehbein W. Craig M. Brewer About the Starling V3FP Starling V3/V3FP was conceived to be our “all around” spinning wheel, capable of processing the widest range of yarns that would satisfy the vast majority of our clients. The ultra lightweight design lends itself very well towards the light end of that spectrum, with the standard flyer easily capable of lace finer than 100 wraps per inch (WPI). Since fine yarns is what Daedalus designs do best, we recently came up with a Lace Flyer for Starling V3/V3FP, extending its ability well into embroidery threads in the 200+ WPI range. However, it was recently pointed out to us that most of our wheels lean towards these finer yarns, and the only true Art Flyer was built for the mighty Magpie. But this is our flagship production spinner, and thus leaves the vast majority of our customers without a good option for art yarns. So, in an effort to stay faithful to the original design goal of a wheel to please everyone, and with the broadest spinning range available in mind. Dave went back to the drawing board with a fresh vision and created the Starling V3/V3FP Art Flyer. One of the goals of the design was to soften the radius of all the diversions in yarn path, as well as opening up the paths so that even larger yarn structures can be processed. The flyer shoulders and guides now use an open metal bars instead of enclosed loops, which help achieve both of these goals. This new feature has actually surpassed our expectations, with testers noting how easily and fluidically the yarn gets onto the bobbin. In addition, It uses the same bobbins as the Starling Standard Flyer, giving the spinner approximately 3-3.5 oz of capacity for bulky yarns. While this capacity may not be tailored to the extensive production of art yarn, it is just right for the hobbyist. Whether you are experimenting or testing out fresh ideas that you may wish to explore before embarking on a larger project, the Starling Art Flyer gives you options not previously available to this model. With all three flyers—the Lace, Standard, and Art—the Starling becomes the spinner's perfect class wheel. Offering a world of unlimited possibilities while learning and exploring the art of spinning.
