Starling Mini and XL V1

STARLING MINI AND STARLING XL

Retired - No longer for sale

Made from carbon fiber and 3D printed ABS plastic, Starling is a light Scotch tensioned electric spinning wheel that is optimized for finer weights and higher speeds.  Capable of over 1,850 rpm (1,800 RPM for XL), yet Starling is just as comfortable walking and jogging from 300-900 RPM using the same power plant as Blackbird.  Design aspects are focused around low noise, high performance, light action, and smart ergonomics.  The bobbin can be changed very quickly without removing the flyer or drive band because of the pivoting maiden.  Take up can be very light because of features like aerodynamic coupling – the flyer channels air into the bobbin to help keep it better synchronized.  Each and every component was chosen for quiet operation and long life.  Wear components are designed to be user-replaceable, including the motor and maiden bearing.  Bobbins include two whorl brake sizes for spinning singles or high speed plying.  Weighing in at 2 lbs (0.9 kg) and 8"L (10"L for XL) x 6"W x 8"H (20-25x15x20cm), it's perfect for travel.  Features are similar to the Blackbird including a hardened axle, precision bearings, and high quality ball bearing whisper quiet motor.
