  • Daedalus Fibers

We are pleased to announce that after lots of gentle encouragement... well, maybe some of us on the team were not so gentle, Becca will be providing fiber again! Right now we are starting with some 1 oz silk samples but with some more time we hope to get Becca dyeing again. It's been a long time coming. With our recent move of Daedalus HQ, we now have more space to work and we've added on a couple new members to our team. This has been such a dramatic change for us and we are so excited by how this move will open up more opportunities for the continued growth and innovation for Daedalus Spinning Wheels. For those who haven't been with us since the beginning, you'll know that Dave and Becca's journey into fiber started with dyeing yarn. After they began their dyeing business, Spotted Ewe Fibers, they realized that Rebecca would need to learn to spin to dye top-quality fibers. Intrigued by the mechanics behind handspinning—notably the nuts and bolts of e-spinning—Dave soon followed suit. He knew his decade-long experience as a drone designer could help him build a lighter, faster, more responsive e-spinner. We are so overjoyed to see Becca getting back to her original fibery roots , a moment that fills our hearts with pride and happiness. (Yarn Bowl by Charan Sachar of Creative with Clay) Next up on Becca's to do list of fiber creativity is to make some batts. Here's some luscious batts from Evanita's personal stash that were made by Becca. They are oh so lovely! • Preparing the Incubators for the Next Flock of Starlings! (5/28/26 Update)

Hickman About the Starling V3FP Starling V3/V3FP was conceived to be our “all around” spinning wheel, capable of processing the widest range of yarns that would satisfy the vast majority of our clients. The ultra lightweight design lends itself very well towards the light end of that spectrum, with the standard flyer easily capable of lace finer than 100 wraps per inch (WPI). Since fine yarns is what Daedalus designs do best, we recently came up with a Lace Flyer for Starling V3/V3FP, extending its ability well into embroidery threads in the 200+ WPI range. However, it was recently pointed out to us that most of our wheels lean towards these finer yarns, and the only true Art Flyer was built for the mighty Magpie. But this is our flagship production spinner, and thus leaves the vast majority of our customers without a good option for art yarns. So, in an effort to stay faithful to the original design goal of a wheel to please everyone, and with the broadest spinning range available in mind. Dave went back to the drawing board with a fresh vision and created the Starling V3/V3FP Art Flyer. One of the goals of the design was to soften the radius of all the diversions in yarn path, as well as opening up the paths so that even larger yarn structures can be processed. The flyer shoulders and guides now use an open metal bars instead of enclosed loops, which help achieve both of these goals. This new feature has actually surpassed our expectations, with testers noting how easily and fluidly the yarn gets onto the bobbin. In addition, it uses the same bobbins as the Starling Standard Flyer, giving the spinner approximately 3-3.5 oz of capacity for bulky yarns. While this capacity may not be tailored to the extensive production of art yarn, it is just right for the hobbyist. Whether you are experimenting or testing out fresh ideas that you may wish to explore before embarking on a larger project, the Starling Art Flyer gives you options not previously available to this model. With all three flyers—the Lace, Standard, and Art—the Starling becomes the spinner's perfect class wheel. Offering a world of unlimited possibilities while learning and exploring the art of spinning. This was our second year sponsoring the Junior Spinning Competition, however this year we offered a new Dove to the skilled Junior who wins. • A Flock of Starlings to take flight and changes happening at Daedalus HQ! (Updated 4/14/26)

Standard Flyer, Starling V3FP with Art Flyer, and Lace Flyer Before we get into the information for the next batch of Starlings, we have some exciting news! Daedalus is currently in the process of relocating from Lexington, Kentucky, to Winchester, Kentucky. As a result, Becca and Dave have been busy packing and moving both their personal belongings and the business operations. During this transition, there will be delays in shipping while the team assists with unpacking and setting up the new workshop space. We greatly appreciate patience while we work through the transition and get the workshop set back up, including getting our printers and other machines settled into their new workspace. We are all very enthusiastic about this move, as it will create opportunities for the continued growth of Daedalus Spinning Wheels. Once Daedalus HQ is all set up at the new location and we've finished our festival season prep, we will be getting the printers set up to incubate the next flock of Starlings for the Queue. The anticipated flight schedule for these Starlings is the end of May/beginning of June. Emails have been sent out via Support@daedalusspinningwheels.com. • Officially Approved Batteries (Updated 2/27/26)

2/27/26 Update Two new batteries added Greeting Daedalus Flock, As technology changes and becomes more readily available, Daedalus has decided to stop stocking batteries and instead will now offer links to recommended batteries. We have tested and know these batteries are compatible with our wheel’s needs. All batteries require a 15V Trigger Cable for use. 15-Volt Trigger Cable Requirement To ensure that your battery is outputting the correct voltage, you must use a 15-Volt Trigger Cable. You can purchase the 15-Volt Trigger Cable from our shop here: https://shop.daedalusspinningwheels.com/products/15v-trigger-cable Please keep in mind that while you may be able to find a cable like this on Amazon we have found that sourcing these cables is extremely difficult due to items being mislabeled or falsely advertised as being 15V when in reality they are 12V or even some that are 12V or 15V depending on the orientation of the USB C side of the cable. Due to this we can ONLY RECOMMEND the use of the cables we sell that have been verified as being 15V. Always check in on TSA policies beforehand to ensure you are compliant with any policy changes. https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/all?combine=batteries&page=1 Battery Care To ensure the best longevity of your battery, we highly recommend reading over the included manual as well as keeping the following in mind. Please make sure that you use your battery. Leaving it in storage for prolonged periods can affect its longevity. Check the battery often while it is in storage, to make sure its charge is somewhere between 50-100%. The manual should include information on the ideal storage charge range. When not in use, ensure the 15vDC Conversion Cable is removed from the battery, as the cable will slowly drain the battery. Do not attempt to charge the battery and operate your wheel at the same time. Label your cables and charging bricks to ensure you don’t get them mixed up. 15 Volts vs 12 Volts Do not under any circumstances use a 12 Volt Battery to power your wheel. -Team Daedalus

Javete About the Magpie V2 Our most powerful and adaptable wheel to date, with an RPM (rotations per minute) of 2,550 with the standard flyer in use (1,550 with the art flyer—still worlds ahead of most e-spinners). We consider this our “all in one” spinning wheel, as it will spin fine singles as easily as it will spin your longest locks, super bulky yarn, coils and beehives, and every single yarn you can imagine in between. The art flyer’s 32 mm (1.26 inch) orifice (with a 20 mm reducer) means no more struggling with your loftiest, most inspired yarns, although the Standard Flyer’s 12 mm (with 6 mm reducer) still provides a soft landing whether you’re spinning low-twist singles or delicate lace. This e-spinner is for experienced and beginner spinners alike. Cost Breakdown Wheel: Magpie V2 Body with Speed Controller Included - $950 Flyer Kits: V2 Pro Art Flyer and 3 Bobbins - $590 Standard Flyer and 3 Bobbins - $540 Add-ons: Standard Bobbin 3 Pack (your choice of color) - $140 Art Bobbin 3 Pack (your choice of color) - $160 To learn about the various accessories for the Magpie, please review the following page. https://shop.daedalusspinningwheels.com/collections/magpie-v2   Magpie Trim is available in the following colors. • Falcons Soaring Toward the End of March

Falcon with Easy to Spin Acala Cotton from Apothefaery We are preparing the incubators for a new flock of Falcons with an anticipated flight schedule of the end of March. We have sent out Build emails for the next batch of Falcons from our queue. Emails are sent from Support@daedalusspinningwheels.com. We highly recommend adding this email address to your contacts to help ensure the email doesn't land in spam. If your name is in the list below and you do not see the email, please check your spam folder. L. Waters B. Heavrin A. Keywood S. Chambers K. Konop J. Burks B. Smith J. Wasmund This concludes the Falcon Queue. Falcons are made 1-2 times a year, and at this time, the queue is clear. If you are hoping to purchase a Falcon, please make sure to sign up for the queue . About the Falcon Made from carbon fiber and 3D printed, ABS plastic, the Falcon is a light, Scotch-tensioned electric spinning wheel that is optimized for spinning the finest weights at the absolute highest speeds of any e-spinner on the market — by a wide margin. The Falcon is capable of spinning at 4200 RPM, yet it’s just as comfortable jogging along at 500 RPM. This is a specialty e-spinner created specifically for those who spin thread and cobweb singles on the regular and are looking to do so with the option of production-level speeds. While we love to see our e-spinners out in the world, this is not an entry-point wheel, nor is it the right wheel for everyone. If you’ve maxed out the speed options on your Sparrow or Starling and find yourself waiting for twist to build into your singles while spinning at 100%, this could be the e-spinner for you.   Be aware that unlike our other Daedalus models, the Falcon is Scotch-tension driven only, offering the lightest of takeup combined with speeds previously unseen on the electric spinning wheel market. While the unit spins equally well at its lowest speed, it was designed for a specific market of highly experienced users whose requests for this e-spinner piqued our engineering minds into action Cost Breakdown Falcon (without the speed controller) - $900 Speed Controller (required to operate) - $140 Add-ons Extra Bobbin 3 pack (black only) - $90 Motor Extension Cable 3 FT or 6 FT - $23-25 What's Included with your Falcon Purchase *Falcon 3 black bobbins with aluminum brake drums Orifice hook Spares Kit  (3mm allen wrench, 1 axle o-ring, 2 chassis bolts, 2 cinches, 1 drive belt, 3 elastics, 1mm Kevlar tension cord,1 rear bearing, 2 rubber feet, 2 rubber grommets, 2 square nuts, 1 small super glue, and 2 tension springs)   15V DC Power Supply Manual *Speed Controller is required to operate your Falcon, but must be purchased separately if you do not already have one for a Daedalus e-spinner. • About Shipping Internationally

We'd like to address a few issues with international shipping. UPDATE 1/21/2026 Shipping to European Union Unfortunately we are unable to ship anything to any country in the European Union due to regulations in place. There is absolutely nothing we can do concerning this and we do not advise using method to bypass this as it can result in additional problems out of our control. https://www.trade.gov/market-intelligence/eu-consumer-goods-general-product-safety-regulation-gpsr Shipping Via UPS In order to ensure that international packages get to their destination without potential problems, we are having to limit our international shipping to UPS only rather than USPS and UPS. Unfortunately, when shipping internationally through USPS once the package arrives in another country we are unable to contact anyone to gain information on the package's status in case it gets delayed or lost. In order to ensure that we can assist you if your package gets delayed or lost we can only ship internationally through UPS which we can contact for assistance at any point until it is in your hands. We understand that UPS may not be convenient for everyone and has its own inherent downsides but it allows us to ensure that your package will safely arrive to you and should an issue occur we are able to handle any issues through UPS's customer service. In light of this change, we will need to require that all international shipments must be to a physical street address as UPS is unable to ship internationally to postal lockers and post office boxes. Where have we shipped? We would also at this time also like to clarify where we ship to. We can ship to any country where UPS is available so if you have a UPS in your country we will be able to ship to you. We understand that courier fees can be frustrating but they are unavoidable. If you are purchasing small items such as extension cords or accessories we highly recommend that you bundle your order with other potential items you may need such as bobbins to make sure that the shipping cost is worth your while so these fees are not cost prohibitive. We have shipped our wheels to the following countries. North America United States of America Canada South America Peru Europe Austria Belgium Czechia Denmark England Estonia Finland France Germany Greenland Iceland Italy Luxemburg Netherlands Norway Romania Scotland Slovenia Sweden Switzerland Asia Israel Japan Singapore Turkey Qatar Oceania Australia New Zealand Tasmania - Evanita
