To most non-fiber people, October is just another month, but for us here at Daedalus, it's a sign of the season's most special offerings, for example:

In all seriousness though, we are so stoked for Rhinebeck! What we are most excited to announce is the news that we have MOVED! You can now find Daedalus in Barn 39, Booth 7-8. We are so fortunate to have been upgraded to a double booth, though we are desperately going to miss our long-time booth buddies from our old barn location. It's a bittersweet move! However, the increased space means that we are increasing the number of products to bring to the festival, and I think we can all agree that it's a worthwhile trade-off. Besides, we'll have a whole barn of new people to make friends with too! Without further ado, let's talk about the most exciting additions to our line-up.
If you haven't yet heard.... There's a new wheel! The Dove was released in January, which means this is the first time we will have them available for purchase at Rhinebeck! I cannot express how blown away we are by the community's response to this little birdy. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this new addition, the Dove has a few notable differences from our other spinning wheel models. The first major difference is that it completely breaks down for storage without any additional tools! It also has the speed and direction controls built into the motor mount, meaning it does not require an external digital speed controller like the other models. The speed is controlled by a dial like the original V1 Starling, giving it a very different tactile experience from our other models. If we've piqued your interest, be sure to stop by the booth to give it a test flight! The other exciting addition to the line-up is AKERKATES! A few months ago, Daedalus became the exclusive dealer of Akerworks Akerkates. We will be bringing a small selection of both 2 and 4 shaft kates in various wood types for you to choose from.
One last special treat. For this year’s festival, we’ve made a limited edition Starling. We have 10 starlings we are calling Maple (named after Evanita’s Maple the Sparrow, which inspired the idea). These beauties are a festive fall treat; they have cranberry bodies and multi-colored trim, orange tension pieces, yellow orifice reducer, yellow Starling word, and lime guides. We are in awe of this wheel; you have to see it to believe it, so come by to check them out.

Festival FAQs
Can I preorder a wheel, winder, or loom so that I can just pick it up at the festival?
No. We do not take preorders for festival pickup.
All festival inventory is available for purchase on a first-come, first-served basis once the festival begins. We do this to ensure that everyone attending the festival has an equal opportunity to purchase our products.
Because our most popular products can sell quickly, taking preorders could result in certain items being sold out before the festival even begins. We recommend shopping with us as early in the festival as possible to ensure you get exactly what you are hoping to purchase, especially if you have specific colors in mind.
Can I order a small accessory to go with my product and pick it up at the festival to save on shipping?
No. We do not offer festival pickup for small accessory orders.
For festivals, we bring a limited selection of our main products, including our electric spinning wheels, electric yarn winders, and band looms. We do not bring our full selection of smaller accessories because the number of products, variations, and quantities would make festival inventory extremely difficult to manage.
Small accessories purchased through our online store are therefore shipped directly to you rather than being held for festival pickup.
This also helps us keep festival sales organized and allows our staff to focus on helping customers at the event.
Why can’t I order small accessories?
We do not offer small accessories for festival pickup because we cannot reasonably bring our entire accessory inventory to each festival.
Our online store carries many small accessories and replacement parts for each of our tools, with some accessories coming in custom colors. Bringing enough of every item to a festival would require us to manage a very large and complicated inventory on-site.
For festivals, we instead focus on bringing our main items: electric spinning wheels, electric yarn winders, and band looms, allowing us to provide a manageable selection while keeping our festival inventory organized.
If you need a specific accessory, the best option is to order it through our online store and have it shipped directly to you.
Can you set aside X item in X color so I can purchase it on the last day of the festival?
No. Festival purchases are first come, first served, and we are unable to hold items for later pickup.
If you have your heart set on a particular product or color, we recommend shopping with us as early in the festival as possible to give yourself the best chance of getting exactly what you want.
We cannot set items aside for pickup later in the festival because held items may not be collected. When that happens, the item may have been unavailable to another customer who would have purchased it. Keeping festival inventory available for purchase throughout the event gives everyone the fairest opportunity to buy.

Can I order it at the festival and then have it shipped to me?
Our festival inventory is separate from our regular online inventory, so festival items cannot be purchased at the festival and later shipped if you decide not to take them with you. If you know you would prefer to have an item shipped, we recommend placing an order through our online store.
I have a product in need of repair. Can you fix it at the festival?
We are unable to perform repairs at festivals. We do not have the complete set of tools, equipment, workspace, or time needed to properly diagnose and repair products on-site.
Please email support@daedalusspinningwheels.com so we can review the situation and determine the best course of action to repair your item.
I have a product in need of repair. Can I drop it off with you at the festival?
No. We are unable to accept products for repair drop-off at festivals.
Keeping track of customers' previously purchased products that need repair would add significant logistical complications to an already busy festival environment. We also cannot guarantee that we would have the tools or workspace needed to properly assess the item.
Please email support@daedalusspinningwheels.com so we can review the situation and determine the best course of action to repair your item.
Can I bring my product for evaluation at the festival?
We are unable to evaluate previously purchased products at festivals.
Our festival setup is focused on demonstrating and selling our products, and we do not have the workspace, tools, or time needed to properly inspect or diagnose individual products.
If you are experiencing an issue with your product or would like to have it evaluated, please email support@daedalusspinningwheels.com. After receiving your email, we can determine the appropriate next steps and, if necessary, arrange for the product to be evaluated through our normal support and repair process.
We are always happy to answer general questions about our products and demonstrate products available at the festival!
After Rhinebeck
After Rhinebeck, we will be reviewing any Starlings that are left from our festivals this fall and will attempt to match them up with someone in the existing queue. Any that remain after this process will be available in our next online sale.
Our next online event will be our Black Friday Sale. It will include Roly-Polies, Whirligigs, Penelope, Starlings, Doves, Magpies, Falcons and Sparrows. All special deals for Black Friday will be announced at the beginning of November.
