An Update on Akerworks Shop Updates
Hi everyone!
We wanted to give an update concerning our Akerworks Shop Updates. We are slammed with prepping for SOAR and Rhinebeck, our last two fall festivals. Due to this, we will not be able to ship out an October 1st Shop Update of AkerKates in a timely fashion. In light of this, we have decided to forgo the October 1st Shop Update. Instead, we will have a November 1st Shop Update, and we will also have a batch of AkerKates available during our Black Friday Shop Update. To space things out, we will have our December Shop Update on December 10th. Our first Shop Update for the new year 2027 will be on the 15th of January.
Dates for the next several Shop Updates
Please note that, due to the small-batch nature of these particular shop updates, we do not release the time the shop update will occur, only the day itself. They will pop up on the shop at a random time. This is part of our effort to make the release as fair as possible and avoid giving an advantage to customers who happen to know precisely when the inventory will become available.

Which AkerKate should I get?
Both AkerKate models have the same axle diameter, and all of our bobbins use the same bobbin bearings.
This means that all of our bobbins can fit onto either AkerKate. However, our longer bobbins like Magpie, Blackbird, and Starling V1/V2 XL require the longer shafts in order to be tensioned and fully supported throughout their height.
That being said, you can also stack shorter bobbins on the 2 Shaft AkerKate by separating each bobbin with a Tensi Tamer.
4 Shaft AkerKates
The Akerworks AkerKate 4 shaft (Standard) Lazy Kate accommodates up to four jumbo bobbins as large as 4.75" (121mm) in diameter and 6.75" (171mm) tall.
This AkerKate is ideal to be used with our Dove, Sparrow, Martin, Starling V3, Starling V3FP, Starling V1/V2 Mini, and Falcon.
2 Shaft AkerKates
The Akerworks AkerKate 2 Shaft (Magpie) Lazy Kate has longer shafts than the classic AkerKate (two at 11.5", 290mm).
This Long-Shaft AkerKate accommodates extra-long bobbins such as the Daedalus Magpie, Blackbird, and Starling V1/V2 XL.
